About Us

Who We Are

An Indigenous-led child, youth, and family organization serving Edmonton with culture, care, and connection.

Our Story

Carrying a Name, and a Teaching

Ben Calf Robe was a Blackfoot Elder from the Siksika Nation and a residential school survivor. The Society carries his name, and his teaching that our children are sacred, into everything we do.

For more than forty years, we have provided Indigenous children and families in Edmonton with education, supportive social services, and programs of high quality and cultural relevance. We are Indigenous-led, and our work is guided by Elders, ceremony, and our Indigenous Ways of Knowing.

What Guides Us

Our Mission

Our Children Are Sacred. Our work strives to protect and enhance that sacredness by providing Indigenous children and their families with holistic education, supportive social services, and programs of high quality and cultural relevance.

What We Believe

Our Values

Children Are Sacred

Every child carries a sacred spirit. Protecting and uplifting that is the heart of all we do.

Culture & Ceremony

Elders, teachings, and ceremony are part of every program, not an add-on.

Family & Community

Children thrive when families and community are strong. We support families as partners, never above them.

Healing & Trauma-Informed

We work with knowledge of colonization and intergenerational trauma, and a path toward healing.

We are grateful to live and work on Treaty 6 Territory, a traditional gathering place, travelling route, and home for many Indigenous Peoples, including the Cree, Blackfoot, Métis, Nakota Sioux, and Dene. Our Children Are Sacred.

How We Help

From Foster Care to Cultural Teachings

Our programs run from licensed group homes and foster care to free parenting circles, a community kitchen, awareness training, and a helping hand with housing and resources.
